Notes from some previous couples..

Being able to actually dance on our wedding day was special, the look on our parents faces was worth all the hard work. We can't thank Stewart and Jane enough. You both made it easy for us and your patience was amazing, thank you for all your help.

Going for dance lessons was one of the most fun parts of arranging the wedding. We were determined not to “shuffle” our first dance, and Stewart & Jane gave us lots of encouragement & support. We’ll view Strictly Come Dancing in a slightly more sympathetic light now! Thanks to you both for making it such an enjoyable experience.

Stewart and Jane taught us to dance a waltz for the first dance at our wedding. When we started to learn we were more like Fred Flinstone and Wilma than Fred Astaire and Ginger Rodgers but they worked miracles with us. They were great (and very patient) teachers and we really enjoyed learning- it was great fun. Our guests were amazed at the waltz we did on the day and we received so many compliments on it. We've already recommended them to a couple of our friends who are getting married next year.

After a perfect day at St Andrews Church and the Roman Camp Hotel in Callander the big moment arrived. Could we put into practice everything we had learned in such a short space of time? Amused eyes saw us take our positions on the floor and the intro to our song started. Listening to the beat we stepped off in unison, two people lost in the reverie of the occasion, the steps coming naturally as though we had had been dancing for a while. My male friends looked quizzical and almost disappointed as we negotiated the floor, looking at one another as though to ask if I had been replaced by a double for this part of the proceedings. Moiras more natural grace and timing ensured we stayed on track and as the last bars of the song came to a close a relieved bride and groom left the dance floor to rapturous applause. There was no time for complacency however as we were whisked back onto the floor however, only knowing a foxtrot, we quickly made our excuses less we be found out!

The day was perfect, our pictures look amazing and we could never have done it without Ballroom Basics help. We both look forward to attending more dancing lessons in the future and would wholeheartedly recommend Stewart and Jane.

Best wishes

Moira & Richie

Thanks so much for putting the dance routine together for us. When you first showed us the routine I remember Susan and I looking at each other thinking ‘no way’. But, after a couple of lessons (and lots of practise at home) we managed to get the dance down to a fine art! Everyone at the wedding loved the fact that we had put a bit of effort into the dance, they particularly loved the ‘shuffle’. My Gran also commented that it was the first wedding in a long time (and she is 86) that the happy couple were actually able to dance instead of dragging their feet!

Thanks Again,

Paul and Susan

Dear Stewart & Jane

Two left footed fiancées decided to impress their friends and family with a professional but romantic first dance on their wedding day…

We only decided to seek tuition six weeks before our departure to our dream wedding venue on a wine farm in the Cape Town area. Stewart and Jane had the know-how, patience, perseverance and commitment to teach us in no time how to waltz with a spin turn, chasse and more! It was so much fun too! We will be back very soon for the jive and cha-cha.

Regards
Verena & Damian

We had a wonderful wedding day and thankfully the dance went well (so we think anyway!). Thanks so much for all your help with the dance. It was a great feeling having people come up and tell us that they loved the dance. One of my friends was even crying!! It was a great routine and we cannot thank you enough for all your patience teaching us.

Kind Regards,

Glynis & Chris Henry

We loved learning to dance with Jane and Stewart. They were so patient with us and choreographed our entire first dance for our wedding, timed perfectly to the music. We started out knowing nothing about ballroom and ended being able to do lifts and chasses, everyone at our wedding was shocked and impressed, we can't wait to go back.

Dear Stewart and Jane

We can’t thank you enough for teaching us to do more than shuffle through our “first dance”, you had so much patience with us at times and gave us the confidence we needed to do this, we will defo be back at one of your classes soon

Love Nic and Simon x

Hi Stuart and Jane,

Just a quick note to say that our first dance at our wedding on 9th July went really well. Everyone loved it-only problem was my dress, bigger than anticipated meaning poor paul stood on it a few times so small improvisations were made! Thank you for your wonderful and patient teaching, fantastic ideas and brilliant skills passed on. We loved our lessons, something nice to do as a couple in the run up to the big day!

Thanks again and keep up the good work, Mr & Mrs Robinson

We just wanted to say thank you for helping us to make our First Dance unforgettable at our wedding on 28th August 2010!

Everyone was very surprised and impressed by our routine and we couldn’t have done it without your help! You are such great teachers and we wouldn’t hesitate to recommend you to others !

Dear Stewart & Jane,

Thank you so much for helping us ‘live the dream’ and dance the waltz to Nat King Cole’s “Fascination” at our wedding in Nov10.

Our nerves were jangling when we first entered your dance studio – to see an experienced class dancing a jive – but you quickly put us at ease and took us under your wing. Your patience and good humour helped keep us on track and after a number of private lessons (not too many), we were almost ready for the main event. Stewart and Jane even came to Mar Hall to help us adapt our routine to fit the dancefloor – and this was a matter of days before their OWN wedding, when they too were practicing their own wedding dance!

We stepped onto the dance floor after our wedding meal and everything went according to plan. Guests were amazed at our ‘fancy steps’ and the routine fitted perfectly with the music.

The whole experience was great fun and we enjoyed it so much that we will be signing up with Stewart & Jane again soon to extend our repertoire!

Thanks again to you both.

Hi Stewart and Jane

Just thought I would send a wee thankyou for all your patience teaching us our wedding dance. Can't believe we've already been married for 6 weeks! The dance was so funny, we managed to practice some more in the lagoon before the wedding and had it pretty perfect, it's unfortunate you don't get a dress rehersal though!

My bustle untied and came down half way through the dance so Hywel was trying to dance while stepping over my train, I also ended up with it under my feet, and the beading on the dress acted like castors, so I ended up glinding across the dance floor at some parts. It was true what you said though, that no one seemed to notice and the reaction once we finished was amazing, with people standing on chairs clapping and cheering. Everone was so surprised that we had learned to dance and I am so glad we did it the way we did, we had so much fun even though it was almost calamatous! Poor Hywel did get a bit of a ribbing for learning to dance from his friends though. I've attached some photos of us in mid dance - thankfully we didn't have a videographer! thanks again
